Fun fact about me, if you don’t already know, I am obsessed with horror. Podcasts, movies, books, you name it I am so into it. October has always been my favourite month and I am definitely one of those people who calls Halloween a holiday. When I was younger I remember using my wish at 11:11 to ask that on my 16th birthday I would find out I was secretly a half witch like Sabrina. Anyone else with me on that one?
Well this wedding was like no other I had designed before. Kyra came to me with the most incredible vision of a dark, spooky vibe for her late October wedding in Barrie, Ontario. To say I was excited would be a huge understatement. Getting to work with black, letting me play with unique textures and funky ideas, uhm HELL yes. We got to subtly use things like skull heads, and paper bats to amp up that spooky and eerie atmosphere (like these custom skull head spoons that were gifted to each individual guest at their place setting), and we got to play with some colourful smoke bombs – which let’s be real you can never go wrong with a good smoke bomb especially so close the Halloween. Kyra also ROCKED that slinky satin dress, and the moment she told me she was wearing her black leather I knew we were going to be best friends. This wedding let me live out my dreams of being a witch, and really brought one of my favourite new quotes to life “we are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn’t burn”.
